Start class
[edit]All this needs to get to B class are references. Having just one translates into missing a major component. After that, this would be close to GA class. Aboutmovies 02:56, 12 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit]This article was automatically assessed because at least one WikiProject had rated the article as start, and the rating on other projects was brought up to start class. BetacommandBot 09:59, 10 November 2007 (UTC)

Suggested Changes
[edit]In the Bibliography section, the item "Foucault Disk - Interactive Java Tutorial" should be moved from this section since this item is not a publication authored by Foucault. It is in fact a very modern "publication" being a Java tutorial. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.106.232.179 (talk) 06:31, 18 September 2013 (UTC)
The title "Death and afterwards" is better as "Death and legacy" — Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.171.209.5 (talk) 07:35, 18 September 2013 (UTC)
This article should include a reference to the Foucault pendulum that is a centerpiece of [The Franklin Institute](Franklin_Institute) in Philadelphia. Thomparkin (talk) 11:09, 18 September 2013 (UTC) Thom Parkin
The English in the ′Later Years′ section is terrible. It's pretty obvious that it's a literal translation from French. Can't edit it now, but thought I'd let someone know. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.67.106.129 (talk) 11:57, 18 September 2013 (UTC)
- I cleaned up the "Later Years" section a little bit, but more could probably be done. PCFleming05 (talk) 13:12, 18 September 2013 (UTC)
For "further reading" I suggest adding this for young readers Mortensen, Lori, Come See The Earth Turn: The Story of Foucault's Pendulum , Random House ISBN-13: 978-1582462844 Come See The Earth TurnMartin mortensen (talk) 23:31, 18 September 2013 (UTC)
Names on the Eiffel Tower
[edit]"Names inscribed on the Eiffel Tower" is VERY misleading because there is room for tens of thousands of names to be inscribed on the STEEL of the tower itself.
What they mean by the (just) 72 names are those inscribed in ceramic at the base of the Eiffel Tower. Those were once completely painted over, but they have been uncovered rather recently.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.67.96.127 (talk) 21:58, 18 September 2013 (UTC)
Blood phobia
[edit]This bit is misleading at best - and probably wrong. He spent quite a lot of time doing dissections.. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.243.106.82 (talk) 17:22, 17 December 2015 (UTC)
- There seem to be some bad and discredit myths about him. This could be one of it. --31.10.148.105 (talk) 10:55, 3 June 2017 (UTC)
Picture
[edit]A picture about his most known and important work, the foucault pendula, should be here. The work of 1851 was a huge sensation at that time. --31.10.148.105 (talk) 10:57, 3 June 2017 (UTC)
Title
[edit]Sorry for my naivity. Why is the title Léon Foucault and not Jean Focuault if his full name is Jean Bernard Léon Foucault? 2A00:23C4:41A:9601:9C2D:DBE9:5F51:E3F8 (talk) 21:56, 11 February 2024 (UTC)
